Summer is the absolutely PERFECT time to read
some of the Bluebonnets for this coming school year :O)  

The Bluebonnet Program was created by the Texas Library Association to encourage students in grades 3 - 6 to read quality literature in a variety of genres.  Every year a committee of librarians across the state of Texas chooses a list of 20 books that they feel are the best in all genres for that year.  Students who read at least 5 of these books (and complete a Buzz Form on each one) before January are eligible to vote for their favorite Bluebonnet book at the end of January and come to our Bluebonnet Bash in March.

Summer Reading

Summer reading is SO important!!  

There are several summer reading programs that are being offered to encourage our Fisher students to read - check out the information on them below :o)  

What’s better than getting to ask an author your questions about the worlds of writing, illustrating, and publishing? Asking a BUNCH of literary professionals! On November 12^th, from 1:30 to 5:00pm, Frisco Public Library is hosting our first Frisco Book Fest at City Hall. There will be presentations in Council Chambers throughout the afternoon. Local authors will have meet and greet booths in the atrium. This all ages event is free and no registration is required.

Our 2016 - 2017 Bluebonnet Program 

has officially kicked off!! 

I have to say that this is my favorite Bluebonnet list ever!!  There is honestly something for everyone and I have found several new favorites thanks to this list :o)  

Bluebonnet Book Talks 

Third, fourth and fifth graders - read five of these great books, complete a Bluebonnet Buzz for each book and be ready to vote for your favorite Bluebonnet at the end of January.  Everyone who votes will be invited to our Bluebonnet Bash in March.  Hope to see you there!!!!  

I am super excited to announce that Lisa McMann, author of the Unwanteds series, will visit Fisher on the afternoon of October 4th!!!

She will be talking about her newest book, Going Wild, that is scheduled to be released at the end of September.  I just received a copy of this book yesterday and can't wait to start reading it!!! 

Preorder forms for Going Wild will be going home in Thursday folders very soon!  In the meantime, if you haven't read her Unwanteds series - I would HIGHLY recommend it.  The cover says that it is "Harry Potter meets the Hunger Games" and I would totally agree!!  I absolutely LOVED it :O)
